What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that stimulates collagen, a protein that builds the connective tissues in your body. Collagen keeps your skin supple, tight, and buoyant. When you press a finger to your skin, it bounces back due to abundant collagen. 

As you age, your body produces less collagen, causing your skin to thin, wrinkle, and sag. Microneedling can help stimulate collagen and encourage cell turnover to promote tighter, more luminous skin. With minimal downtime and short treatments, microneedling may improve the tone and texture of your skin.

What can you expect?

SkinPen® is a simple, comfortable, and effective treatment for skin rejuvenation. Most people see results in as few as three 30-minute sessions. 

Before Treatment 

• Your provider will gently cleanse your skin. Topical anesthesia will be administered to assure maximum comfort during the treatment. 

During Treatment 

• SkinPen® creates millions of controlled microchannels in the skin. This jump starts the production of collagen and elastin and encourages the release of growth factors that recruit and increase reparative cells. The result is a cascade of healing processes that can continue for months following your treatment. 
• The SkinPen® treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes. Depending on whether an anesthetic is used prior to treatment, your entire treatment session may last up to one hour- still plenty of time to schedule your treatment before work or during your lunch hour. Be sure to speak with your provider before you come to get an accurate estimate, so you know how to plan your visit. 

After Treatment 

• Your skin may initially appear slightly pink to red, similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal and should subside within 24 to 72 hours. 
• Some people see rejuvenated skin after just one treatment, and results may continue to improve for three to six months following your last treatment. 

How many microneedling treatments will I need?

While you may see visible improvements in your skin after one treatment, most people need several microneedling sessions to achieve optimal results. Zayda will recommend appropriate spacing of treatments to protect your skin.

How long do microneedling results last?

Microneedling results typically last up to 6 months. You can maintain your results by visiting for routine treatments. Zayda may also recommend combining your treatments with laser treatments, chemical peels, toxin and other cosmetic procedures to extend your results.
